STAIN
A stain is an area of discoloration or a different color that is generally easily distinguishable from the rest of the surface, material, or medium on which it is located. Its distribution is usually not uniform, and is generally generated accidentally, although it can also be intentional: this is the case of the stains used in research, technology and art.
